ALEXANDRA AZOVTSEVA
REFERENCE TO MICHELANGELO
This work references Michelangelo's Crouching Boy from the Hermitage collection, the prototype of which probably was Boy with thorn. Michelangelo's work was supposed to be a part of a sculpture ensemble in Medici tomb and, according to Paola Volkova's interpretation, represents plastic expression of life moments. This quote represents the tenderness of a moment, the concentration and lonesomeness of present moment which the artist proposes to understand as the greatest gift one could feel on one's fingertips.*
