MARIA KOROLEVA

Maria Koroleva was born in 1996 in Kemerovo, Siberia. After finishing school, she moved to Saint Petersburg to study graphic design and contemporary art processes. In 2021, she attended the "Free Workshops" School of Contemporary Art at MMOMA. In 2022, after completing the program, Maria immigrated from Russia to Thailand and later, in 2024, to Serbia.

The contrast between her connection with nature and the established cultural scenarios of the metropolis led the artist to reflect on the interrelations between urban structures and the body. She found her method in identifying the transitional state between two phenomena — focusing on balancing acts and adaptation scenarios.

Due to frequent relocations, Maria explores the impermanence of presence and the fragility of constructed environments. Her work unfolds within spaces of negotiation, where the body navigates cycles of transformation, shifting between belonging and uncertainty.
