OLYA AVSTREYH
The artist researches the thin line between the real and the fake in her practice while fixating the gap between life perception from the outside and from within. Her goal is to grasp the evasive and ghostly forms and to feel the inner emptiness that we know all too well how to hide. Olya highlights that in the modern world one feels more awkward than natural and she studies the difficulties of the modern socio-cultural landscape and the feeling of isolation we often find ourselves in. According to the artist herself, her works balance between full loneliness and a neurotic fiesta.
Olya graduated MSU Faculty of Foreign Languages (2010), the Westminster University (London) Faculty of Media Management and HSE School of Design's Contemporary Painting program with Vladimir Dubosarsky's supervision (2021). She also attended Ivan Gorshkov's workshop To find and to better.
Lives and works in Margate, UK.
